Lassen College Celebrates Veterans with Breakfast, Community Support, and Special Raffle Awards
For more than ten years, Lassen College Cougar Athletics has honored local veterans by hosting a free community breakfast each Veterans Day. Funded by the athletic department and supported by Cougar student–athletes who volunteer their time, the breakfast has grown into a deeply valued tradition for both the college and the Susanville community.
This year’s event was held at the Community Church of Susanville on Numa Road, where veterans and their families gathered for a warm, homestyle breakfast prepared and served by our athletes. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Community Church for once again opening their doors and allowing us to host this important event in their facility.
A special highlight this year came from the generosity of four local businesses, each donating $250 to be raffled to attending veterans. The winners’ names were drawn and announced during the Cougar Volleyball match against Feather River College—a moment that brought excitement to both the gym and the breakfast attendees who later heard the results.
We proudly recognize and thank our sponsors, along with their raffle winners:
-
Kirack Construction – Winner: Jim Dandois
-
Smith Properties – Winner: Jeremiah Rower
-
Novah Electric – Winner: Marshall Leve
-
NST Engineering – Winners: Mike and Monica Wright
Their support not only brightened the day for our veterans but also helped elevate the entire event.
We also extend our sincere gratitude to the volunteers who made this year’s breakfast possible. A special thank-you goes to Glen Yonan, whose effort, organization, and leadership were vital to planning and carrying out the event.
Most importantly, we honor and thank all of the veterans who attended—and every veteran in our community—for their service, courage, and sacrifice. Hosting this breakfast is a small way for us to give back to those who have given so much for our community and our country.
