Cougars Even Series with Gutsy Game 2 Win Over Marin

Lassen College kept its postseason hopes alive on May 2 with a gritty 10–7 victory over College of Marin in Game 2 of their playoff series. Playing at home in Susanville, the Cougars fed off the energy of their crowd and bounced back after dropping the series opener to force a decisive Game 3.

Lassen set the tone early, scoring twice in the first inning and piling on runs in the third, fourth, and fifth to build a lead they wouldn’t surrender. Ethan Beede was unstoppable at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four RBIs and two doubles. Lucas Geisler chipped in with a pair of RBIs, and key contributions from Kylan Kono, Jack Zimmerman, and Jackson Rosenthal rounded out a 15-hit performance.

Marin battled back to tie the game at 7–7 in the fourth inning, but the Cougars’ bullpen held firm from that point on. Luke Morgan earned the win after working six innings and allowing just four earned runs. Wyatt Culbertson and Noah Kimura followed with three combined shutout innings, with Kimura slamming the door in the ninth to earn the save.

With the win, Lassen evens the series at one game apiece and shifts momentum heading into the Game 3 finale.
