
Lassen Baseball Shines with Golden Valley Conference Honors
The 2025 Lassen College baseball team capped off a stellar 26-13-1 season with major recognition from the Golden Valley Conference, highlighted by Luke Morgan being named Pitcher of the Year. Morgan dominated the mound all season, going 9-0 with a 2.16 ERA, striking out 91 batters in 75 innings while holding opponents to a .203 average. His consistency and command made him the ace of the Cougars' rotation and one of the best pitchers in the region.
The Cougars also landed four players on the All-GVC First Team. Mitchell Basterrechea was a power threat all year, slashing .358 with 8 home runs, 47 RBIs, and a .630 slugging percentage. Kylan Kono hit .338, provided solid middle infield defense, and drove in 23 runs. Ethan Beede led the team in hits with 55, hit .359, and posted 43 RBIs, while Rominic Quiban hit .370 with 4 homers, 39 RBIs, and a team-high 30 stolen bases.
The Second Team All-GVC selections also made major contributions. Roque Serrano hit .367 with 23 RBIs, while Jack Zimmerman batted .341 with 13 doubles. Eli Hernandez posted a .298 average and was flawless defensively at catcher with a 1.000 fielding percentage. Kyson Goates contributed 7 wins and a 3.50 ERA on the mound, and Brock Bunker added a .321 average, 45 hits, and strong infield defense.
