Lassen Falls Just Short in Tight Battle Against Butte

Lassen College came up just short in a hard-fought matchup against Butte College, falling 68-65 at home on February 1. The Cougars trailed by just two at halftime and stayed within striking distance throughout, but were unable to overcome Butte's strong inside presence. Lassen struggled from the field, shooting 35.5% overall and 26.3% from three, while Butte capitalized on efficient scoring inside, led by Jessy Maximin's dominant 18-point, 24-rebound performance.

Despite the loss, Lassen had several key contributors, including Jaydin Morin-Bishop, who led the team with 19 points and nine rebounds. Sterling Rivera added 11 points and four assists, while Elijah Blythe chipped in 15 points on 50% shooting. The Cougars made up ground at the free-throw line, hitting 16 of 23 attempts, but struggled to slow down Butte's ball movement and rebounding advantage. With this close defeat, Lassen will look to bounce back in its next matchup as conference play continues.
