Loss to Siskiyous may prevent playoff bid

On Thursday (November 4), the Lassen men's soccer team (8-7-1) traveled to Weed to face Siskyious. As the match began, the Cougars were eager to build off their recent from their win over the College of the Redwoods but missed scoring opportunties resulted in a 3-1 loss to the Eagles.

The Eagles scored first in the 20th minute after taking advantage of a poor give-away in the Lassen back line.

Cougars goal keeper, Cristobal Ramero would go on to make several crucial saves in the first half allowing Lassen to equalize just before half-time from a penalty kick scored by Joel Vasqez.

The second half began with a 1-1 score line as both teams pushed forward to find the next goal. The Eagles scored early in the second half forcing Lassen to push numbers forward in an effort to get back into the game.

The Cougars created numerous goal scoring opportunities, yet were unable to find the back of the net. The Eagles would have the final say with a third goal scored late in the 80th minute.

"Today was disappointing as it pertains to our chances of making a playoff run," said Head Coach Alex Machin. "We have a young and new group of players, so this will be an important lesson for our program moving forward."

Lassen will host Lake Tahoe on Tuesday, November 8 at 12 pm.
