Lassen Men's Soccer Completes 2021 Season

The Lassen College men's soccer team closed out their 2021 season on November 12, finishing their season 8-8-2 overall and fourth in the Golden Valley Conference (GVC) with a 3-5-2 record.

"Our goal was to establish a culture that valued the importance of hard work and persistence this season" stated head coach Alex Machin. "Now our aim is to keep that same mentality and culture in the program moving forward."

This was the first season Lassen men's soccer had since 2019 and the program proved to be competitive both inside and out of the GVC. Their season began with a spell of five away victories setting the team up with a winning mentality.

As a result of injuries and players returning home, the Cougars were forced to drop to sixteen players midway through the season. As the number of games ramped up, Lassen was required to work even harder to find success with fewer number of players.

In the fighting spirit of our Cougars, they continued on throughout the remainder of the season working hard for one another and the team. Their efforts were rewarded with three conference victories and an even season for wins and losses.

"This season taught myself and the lads a lot! Both on and off the pitch" said Head Coach Alex Machin. "We aim to return fourteen players as well as bring in new players for next season. This is an exciting time for the program and the potential success that lies ahead."

The team will return after the holidays when second semester begins and plan to play four spring games. Times, dates, and locations TBD.
