Defense shines but offense struggles versus Butte

Lassen College Softball visited Butte College on Wednesday, April 5,  for a doubleheader. In game 1, the Lady Cougars fell to Butte 8-0. Lassen battled hard on the defensive end but struggled on offense, with only one hit in the game. Reno native Bri Wheelen pitched for the Cougars to keep the Butte offense off-balance through most of the game, going six innings, giving up eight runs, 12 hits, two walks, and striking out none. Freshman Allison Deaton was the only cougar to record a hit.  

“I thought we played really well defensively and in the circle. We have to get going on the offensive end,” said Head Coach Colby Chavez.  

The Lady Cougars are 3-20.
