Lassen Offense Shines Despite Tough Home Loss to Feather River

The Lassen College softball team put together a solid offensive performance at home on April 16, but a massive fifth inning by Feather River proved to be the difference in a 10-4 loss. The Golden Eagles plated eight runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to pull away, despite Lassen outhitting their opponents through much of the game. The Cougars showed poise at the plate, racking up 10 hits and getting production from multiple players in a game that remained competitive until late.

Tristyn Lenz led the offensive charge with a three-hit day, including a double, while Andie Wood added two hits and an RBI triple. Lexee Larranaga continued her consistent season with two hits, including a double of her own, and an RBI. Taylor Lauritsen and Cambree Prescott each chipped in with run-scoring hits as Lassen put together rallies in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. The Cougars were aggressive on contact and capitalized on extra-base opportunities.

On the mound, Lauren Emery and Abby Lynn worked together to keep the Feather River offense in check for much of the early going, but the fifth inning barrage—highlighted by a three-run homer from Lily Lee—proved to be the turning point. Despite allowing 15 hits, the Cougars’ pitchers did not surrender a single earned run, as Lassen played clean defense with no errors in the field.

While the final score didn’t swing Lassen’s way, the team continues to show fight and growth with every outing. Solid hitting up and down the lineup and mistake-free fielding are encouraging signs heading into the final stretch of the season. If the Cougars can tighten up their pitching in key spots, they’ll be a tough opponent for anyone left on their schedule.
