Cougars Fight to the Finish in Competitive Clash with Yuba

Lassen College softball put together a spirited effort in front of the home crowd on April 12, battling to the final out in an 8-5 loss to Yuba College. The Cougars showcased their offensive depth with nine hits and five RBIs, making a late push that nearly turned the tide. Despite an early deficit, Lassen clawed their way back into the game with strong middle-inning rallies and resilient team energy.

Andie Wood continued to swing a hot bat, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored to lead the Cougar offense. Tristyn Lenz came up clutch in the sixth with a two-RBI single, helping Lassen cut into Yuba’s lead. Shea Jones and Emma Wayas also added key RBIs, while Taylor Lauritsen and Nadia Velazquez sparked the offense with timely baserunning and aggressive at-bats. The team’s offensive balance continues to be a strength.

On the mound, Anndria Kay pitched a complete game for the Cougars, shouldering a tough lineup with composure. Backed by solid infield play, Kay worked through trouble and limited damage late in the contest. The defense had some early miscues but bounced back to keep Yuba scoreless in the final inning, giving Lassen a chance to rally.

Though the final result didn't fall in Lassen’s favor, the game highlighted the Cougars’ fight and competitiveness. Their ability to string together runs and respond under pressure signals a team that’s still building momentum. With continued production at the plate and growth in key spots, Lassen remains a tough matchup for any opponent in the conference.
