San Mateo turns up heat to down Lassen in final quarter

The Lassen College Lady Cougars played their final game of the Shasta College Crossover Tournament against San Mateo. The Cougars got off to a slow start and trailed 20-12 the end of the first quarter. Lassen picked up the tempo to take a 29-28 lead at halftime.

The score remained close through the third quarter, but a hot shooting performance by San Mateo allowed them to pull away and claim the 66-50 victory.

The Lady Cougars were led in scoring by guard Haylee Sethman with 20 points. Freshman guard Soleil Cariaga would also score in double figures with 10 points.

"We are playing better on both ends of the court," said Head Coach Derrick Jackson. "We need to continue this to get ready for conference play."

Lassen plays on Tuesday at Cosumnes River College. The Cougars are now 4-8 on the season.
