Cougars pull off first round upset

The Lassen College Women’s Basketball team made the field of 24 as the 22 seed in the CCCAA State Basketball Playoffs. Lassen opened on the road at eleven seed Solano. It was close throughout. The Lady Cougars led 32-28 at the half. Lassen used a stingy defense causing Solano to make several turnovers and missed shots, paving the way to a 57-52 victory. Sydnei Collier led the offense chipping in 27 points.

“Our defense was the difference in the game. We played tough defense all night,” said Head Coach Derrick Jackson.

The Lady Cougars will advance and travel to meet the six-seeded City College of San Francisco on Saturday at 7:30 pm.
