Lassen falls to Butte

Lassen College struggled in a difficult matchup against Butte College on February 1, 2025, falling 82-48. The Cougars were outpaced from the beginning, ending the first quarter with just 8 points to Butte's 25. Despite some individual efforts, such as Shade Satica’s 33 points for Butte and a solid 14-point performance from Elijah Blythe for Lassen, the team couldn’t find their rhythm. In total, Lassen shot 27.7% from the field, compared to Butte’s 40.8%, and struggled from beyond the arc with a 22.2% shooting rate.

Lassen's offense was led by Elijah Blythe with 36 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Butte’s strong defense and offensive execution. In addition, Lassen’s defense gave up significant ground, allowing Butte to capitalize on turnovers and rebounds. While the team continued to fight hard through all four quarters, they couldn’t close the gap. With the loss, Lassen drops to 0-5 in conference play, looking ahead to improving their performance in future matchups.
