Lassen Dominates Yuba in 69-32 Victory
Lassen College dominated their home game against Yuba College on November 23, 2024, securing a decisive 69-32 victory. While Yuba started strong, trailing by just two points after the first quarter (12-10), Lassen’s offensive and defensive adjustments proved overwhelming. They outscored Yuba 20-6 in the second quarter and maintained their momentum throughout the second half. Shalaya Barraza led Lassen with 22 points, hitting 10 of 16 shots from the field, while Nadi Velazquez contributed a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Lassen’s defense forced 28 turnovers and tallied 19 steals, shutting down Yuba’s offense.
Yuba struggled to find rhythm offensively, shooting just 29.5% from the field and failing to convert a single three-pointer. Trinity Gibson was a bright spot for Yuba, leading her team with 10 points and 4 rebounds, but the team’s limited ball movement and turnovers hampered their performance. In contrast, Lassen’s depth shone through, with contributions from multiple reserves, including Miliani Crosno, who added 8 points and 5 rebounds in just 13 minutes. With this win, Lassen improved to 5-3 on the season, while Yuba dropped to 3-4. Both teams are yet to begin conference play.
