Penalty Propels Lassen Past De Anza for First Win

The Lady Cougars, away from home raged against a rival opponent, De Anza College, registering their first pre-season win. After engaging in a collective effort and tactical offensive assault, De Anza was handed a 1-0 loss.

Lassen played an open game during the first period, implementing their system of moving the ball effectively from back to front. Despite attempts by De Anza to make an early goal, Lassen's defense stood their ground and shifted momentum towards the opponent's half. Being mindful of existing injuries the Lady Cougars outlasted pressure from De Anza in a 0-0 score margin at the end of the first 45 minutes.

The second half became much more difficult for De Anza with the re-introduction of Brittany Anderson and Samantha Beasley who pressed hard to get a penalty. Beasley successfully converted the penalty to take the lead. De Anza peppered Lassen's defense but the Lady Cougars withstood De Anza's mounting pressure until the end of the game.

"This victory is epic for us," said Head Coach Jude Niba, "However, we need to work hard on defending goal leads".
